Unfortunately, Knoxville rained out this weekend. We drove all the way down to Des Moines Friday night and stayed at the Sleep Inn. The Sleep Inn is a great motel to stay at and their is a fun place to eat, the Machine Shed, near by. After finding out that Knoxville cancelled on Saturday and our back up plan, Eagle was also cancelled, we hightailed it to Hartford for their test and tune. Hartford's track was terribly dry. We, Gordy and I, did a couple laps each. Our motors sounded great! We were both happy with them. Go John Singer! We decided not to burn up anymore tires, so we headed home again.
We were sad that we were not able to compete this weekend, but we were happy that we were able to shake down the cars. We plan on racing at Knoxville this coming Saturday, weather permitting.
A little side note - I was glad to see that the Twins whipped the Indians today. I hate the Indians! At the Sleep Inn, I was watching some of the greatest catches of all time on FOX Sports. I remember some of those awesome catches by Kirby. The Twins have a young scrappy team this year, but I have no doubt that they will kick some butt!

2008 Season Right Around the Corner
Here's our plan for this summer:
Friday night (April 18th) we plan to practice at Knoxville and race there Saturday Night.
We plan on racing Knoxville until Jackson Speedway is under way - May 9th. We are looking forward to the Sprint Spring Nationals at Jackson. We hope to see you all there! It sounds like there is going to be a great field of cars (all sprints). It is definately a show that you are not going to want to miss. There is a high pay out for the racers, any many prizes that will be given away to the fans. Plan on coming - races start at 7:30 on May 9th!
We plan on racing Jackson's regular shows and the Jackson Sprint Touring Series. We also hope to hit some of the ASCS shows that fit our schedule.
We had a really good time at the car show. We will be updating the pictures soon! I know some of you are wondering what the cars look like!
Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions.

2008 Race Season
Race Season 2008 is right around the corner.
Brian Schnee built 2 new cars for us this year and John Singer is refreshening both of our motors. We really haven't decided on any color scheme yet, so if you have ideas, let me know. We take pride in our cars looking good, so we need to come up with something creative. :-p)
Gordy Vogelaar is planning on running our second car next year as well. We really enjoyed running two cars last year, so we are going to go for it again this year.
Racing plans: We are waiting to see exactly what everybody is doing. Jackson will still be our home track. We hope to hit some regional touring events throughout the year as well. We would love to come back and race Rock Rapids, but the current promoters take away most of the fun.
We wish all racers good luck for next year! We are excited to hit the track again and dig into the busyness of the race season.
I really like what the Bill Smith and the Twins organization has been doing this off season. Trading Santana for some young talent is going to pay off.
Thanks for stopping in and we wish you all a Merry Christmas. Remember that Jesus is the reason for the season!

New Update 6-27-07
Things have been going well since my last update. We went back to Jackson the next week and had a pair of strong runs. Gordy and I both finished 2nd in our respected heats. In the feature Gordo finished 2nd and I finished 4th.
We then went to Hartford on the 19th for the ASCS National Tour race. I did not have a good showing at all but Gordy gave the National boys a run for there money. He won his heat race and the dash. He led about 7-8 laps of the feature before slipping off the track. Gordy did work his way back to 8th. A very good showing and alot of fun for the team.
Last weekend at Jackson Gordy was the bridesmaid again by finishing 2nd. I was in third late in the race but got caught up in a late race red. After changing a tire and making repairs, we did work our way back up to fifth. As of this week, Gordy sits second and I sit third in the standings at Jackson.
We will be hitting Jackson this weekend and will look for a race next week over the Fourth.
By the way congrats goes out to Jessica Vogelaar on her fifth place finish at the Kokato road course. That is AWESOME!
Hopefully the Twins can get things going in the right direction once Morneau is back. Go TWINS.
See ya at the races. Come down and visit after the races.

Races 6.9.07
What a night! Not because of the results but because of the amount of work to get ready for the main.
Saturday night was about perseverance. Gordy and I finished 3rd and 4th respectively in the third heat. While crossing the finish line, the drive line broke taking the rear end with it. With a skeleton crew for the night, we took on the task to get the car put back together. Our spare rear end was being serviced so Jeff Heser from the Summer group allowed us to use there spare rear end. Jeff then pitched in and helped us get the car ready for the race. A special thanks goes out to Jeff. It was very much apreciated. We just made call for the race. I was able to salvage a 11th place finish. Gordy had a flat late in the race that caused him to DNF. Not the best results for either of us but getting both cars out there for the race was just about a victory in itself.
Congratulations to Chad Meyer for picking up the victory for Mike Sandvig and the 7s team. It's always cool to see family run operations succeed. Great job guys.
Next week the ASCS national guy are going to be in the area. Go out and watch them where ever you can. You will see a great race.
We have Jackson this weekend followed by some ASCS races the week after. Stop on down and see us after the races.

Delayed Update 6-3-07
I am sorry that I haven't updated our news for sometime. It took a rain out weekend to finally get me to sit down and update it.
We've gone to Hartford, Jackson, and Wagner since my last update. We've been a consistently placing in the top 10 where ever we've gone. Gordy placed 2nd behind Jake Peters at Wagner. He was the only one there to give Jake some competition. Last weekend at Jackson we won the A feature, holding off Nick Lusk and then Bill Boles in the final few laps. Gordy passed Nick at the stripe to take third place. It made for a fun weekend of racing. Because of the rain out in Knoxville, some of cars from there were able to race with us. That made the win just a little bit sweeter. After last weeekend, Gordy is 2nd in points and I sit 3rd.
By the way, it has been a blast working with Gordy and Brenda. They care about the sport and it shows in there intensity. They are true proffesionals. The sport needs more of them.
Jackson has been a lot of fun this year. The surface has been well prepared and the show has been done consistently done by 10:00. We have been getting right at 16 strong quality cars a night in the sprint class. I hope the crowds start to come around. It should now that schools are done for the year. If you get a chance, come out to Jackson. We are very fortunate to have a fast 1/2 mile in our area. You won't see these type of speeds at RR or the so called "Home of the Professionals". Most people go to the lakes for a weekend getaway - so come on up any Saturday night. You will not be disappointed! We look forward to meeting you after the races.
Go Twins!
Look for an update next week after U of O night.

Nebraska Weekend
It was a good weekend to shake down both cars this weekend. I was happy with how my car handled Sunday night. Both cars have some bugs to workout but that is bound to be expected. Admit or not, that is usually the main purpose of an early show.
I want to send out a big thank you to the general manager of the "Super 8"in Gretna,NE . They were very accomodating. It is always nice to find race fans when you are out of your area. We had many people stop by just to take a look around or b.s. about racing.
One last thing, if you are any type of race fan, please do not shop at the outlet malls in Gretna. The owner called the cops on us because we were working on our cars in his parking lot. He said we were an environmental threat. Remember, do not shop at the outlet malls in Gretna.
This weekend we will be taking it off to work on cars and the trailer but the weekend after we pull out to Hartford.
